The Elysia xFilter Mastering Edition is a classic 4-band stereo equalizer with bass, treble, treble and bass mids. Under the hood, however, is hidden exactly the highly developed engineering art for which the manufacturer is known: Not only are all devices calibrated and tested by specially developed software, but also the potentiometers are selected. The capacitors are produced with a tolerance that is half as low as usual in the industry, therefore the Elysia xFilter allows the user stereo operation with identical sounding channels. A copper-plated ground plane, which runs close to the conductors of the signal path, ensures optimum shielding against electrical interference. All active components of the Elysia xFilter are fully discrete and Class A circuitry.
For more complex EQ applications, bass and treble can be switched separately to high and low pass. The filters each have a resonance peak that can be used to emphasize individual frequencies; bass can be cut and defined at the same time, while treble is clear but not sharp. For even more treble, a passive filter with encapsulated coil can be switched on at 12kHz. At 17kHz it drops off gently and gives the treble band the typical, noble LC filter sound. Finally, the filter quality of the two mid bands can be switched between narrow and wide. In addition, the Elysia xFilter's potentiometers have 41 steps, so previous settings can be easily reproduced.
As with all Elysia products, the Elysia xFilter is a unique and efficiently designed product that meets the highest standards of audio quality.
The Mastering Edition of the Elysia xFilter works with precise +/-5dB per filter band, as required by a professional mastering environment; the xFilter, on the other hand, works with +/-13dB more conducive to mixing.
