What to do if the nail is broken?
This problem is probably faced by every classical guitarist and also the fingerpicker sooner or later once.
And many improvised solutions have been found in this field: artificial fingernails, parts of ping-pong balls attached with super glue...
But no matter how the solution looked, the guitarist was not fully satisfied. aLaska Piks plastic picks offer a real alternative for the first time.
Slid over the finger and under the nail, aLaska Pik replaces the fingernail in an amazingly simple way.
Only a minimum of own nail is necessary to ensure the seating strength. Before the first use, the pick has to be adjusted to the player's finger.
After this procedure the pick sits so securely on the finger that it can not only be plucked but also strummed. Even flamenco guitarists get their money's worth.
Instructions for use: First of all, the firmness of the pick must be optimised. This is achieved by filing the inside of the plucking surface of the pick to exactly fit the shape of the user's fingers.
Guide the file to minimize the foreign body feeling under the nail.
Now place the pick firmly over the finger and under the nail for manicuring. For this purpose, the edges of the fingernails, especially the outer corners, should also be filed round. Prepared in this way, the pick can then be shortened to the desired length with nail clippers and a file. To make the pick more flexible, the pressure band can be removed completely or partially.
If the pick slips out from under the nail when the finger is bent, bevel it generously on the underside. File all sharp edges round. aLaska Piks can also be used for side picking with the thumb.
I am a classical guitar player. I use them when I broke my nails and it is a great replacement. They can produce very good tone ads well as playing smoothly on the string. I have filed them into the shapes that I want to get the ultimate sound and playability. They are quite flexiible, so you can always make them smaller or bigger until they suit your fingers. They required a bit of time to get used to, but it wont be long.
I dont like gluing fake nails on my fingers as they would damage your real nails and look strange (for a man). These picks can take off easily as well as putting them on, so you only have to wear them when you need them,
Very clever product! I have been using them for 3 years!
