Cheap for recording your own songs. You can easily record your own songs, without to pay a lot. Sometimes the recorder is a little bit difficult to handle, but when you read the manual, everything will become clear.
If you want to make fast-demos "on fly" - you must buy it! Well, this thing can be a mixer, little studio at your rehearsals or on a little perfomances. ABSOLUTELY the best choice for that money. You can grow up with this device and it really brings to you the understanding of recording.
Why sound is only "4"? Ill tell you why... The mic. preamp in this studio is cheap. Whats why it cant give you very clean professional sound. But for that money - it is almost close to nice level of recording. At the conclusion I must say - this R16 Recorder track can be your friend for a long time.
Also it does not work with midi-devices. But its very friendly for any PC.
After using Zoom r16 for number of years i can say this is amazing piece of equipment considering its price. You can use it as a sound card with your PC/Mac through USB. It works as a stand alone recorder and has build in mics !!! Quality wise built to last, but dont expect miracles here, not for the price you pay. I can say this equipment is really good deal in my opinion.
