The Yamaha Montage M6 at a glance:
With the Montage M6, Yamaha presents the latest Generation of the popular synthesizer workstation. At the same time, the M generation makes itself interesting to keyboardists, pianists and synth enthusiasts, as it shines with a selection of over 3000 high-quality sounds, has an excellent keyboard and allows detailed intervention in the sound. The 61-key FSX keyboard is naturally velocity-sensitive and provides a very good feel, and Channel Aftertouch is also implemented for finely dosed modulation of parameters. The newly designed control panel features several innovations that offer a much improved and more effective workflow and have a lot to offer in terms of performance. The arpeggiator is available for eight parts at the same time and is more than amply equipped with almost 11,000 presets. Thanks to the 16-track sequencer, no song idea has to remain undocumented. With a capacity of 128 patterns and 128 songs there is enough memory to complete the next stage season with the Montage M6.

In seventh synthesis heaven
At the heart of the Montage M is, of course, the digital sound generation engine, which now includes AN-X synthesis in addition to AWM2 and FM-X:
The AWM2 engine offers an extremely successful sweep of music history with pretty much everything you'd expect in terms of sounds from a full-blown workstation. The sonic detail is realized with up to 128 elements per part so that super smooth transitions and sound progressions are given. This of course also benefits the included piano sounds.
With the FM-X engine Yamaha's legacy of the cult synthesis of the DX-7 lives on. Once again, one draws from the full and has access to up to eight operators and 88 FM algorithms.
The AN-X engine is fully dedicated to analog sounds, without wanting to be a copy of the in-house classic AN1x. The engine offers three oscillators with five waveforms each along with PWM, Hardsync and a noise generator. Two filters with ten filter types form the rich basic sound of the tone generators. This sound generation is rounded off with ring modulator, FM and waveshaper. Two ADSR envelopes and two LFOs are used for modulation.
Superordinately, there are 18 filter types that can be used in any way on the 16 parts. Yamaha sends the Montage M with proud 400 voices into the race. These are divided into two times 128 voices for AWM2 (128 voices each for preset and user waveforms), 128 voices for FM-X and 16 voices for the AN-X engine. The sound memory should be sufficient for now with 10 GB Preset waveforms and 3.7 GB flash memory for user waveforms. Ex works the Montage M comes with 3369 sounds, so there's something for everyone. Effects are known to be the salt in the soup, but in this case it may be a little more. Reverb (12 types), Variation (88 types), Insertion A (88 types), Insertion B (89 types) and Master (26 types) are available. Included are various Delay algorithms, modulation effects like chorus, Flanger and Chorus and also distortion effects. For each of the 16 tracks there is an EQ with 2 or 3 bands as well as a 5-band EQ for the master.
Super Knob
Hands-On at the Montage M generation!
Motion Control Synthesis Engine
This groundbreaking engine allows you to interact with sounds in a variety of ways. This is realized via motion sequences, among other things, with which dynamically automatable synth and effect parameters can even be realized tempo-synchronously. With the Super Knob dozens of modulations can be controlled in parallel with only one knob turn, at the same time the Envelope Follower generates modulations by means of an applied input signal (A/D input) or another part. This and more can the MCS engine, a true magic box for expressive sound changes and performances!
Real-time fader & controller with display
Instead of the fixed parameter matrix of the predecessor, the M-generation is equipped with a flexible switchable display, whose parameters are set with the encoders underneath and displayed via LED ring as an additional visual Feedback. Many functions have more than eight parameters, the others can be accessed at the same place by pressing the page keys; this is both practical and clear. This area also contains the mixer, which manages the 16 internal tracks and the eight audio inputs (6x USB, 2x analog).

7" Touchscreen

Everything at a glance with the 7" touchscreen
The large 7" touchscreen is the central control element of the Montage M6. The touchscreen provides access to all functions and features in razor-sharp image quality and displays all relevant information graphically. The technical leap compared to the previous model is particularly noticeable on the touchscreen and the six encoders below it.
Categories & Live Sets
The 3369 sounds are sorted into 16 categories, and you can also save your own sounds in these categories. So you don't lose the overview and you are faster at the sounds you really need. The Live Sets are compilations of sounds and settings for several tracks at the same time. There are 128 Preset sets and 2048 User sets available. If you can't do without the DAW on stage, you have everything you need for the next song at the push of a button.

Professional connections
The back of the Montage M6 is pleasantly versatile. In addition to the keyboard, there are the foot pedal connections Expression, Sustain and twice Footswitch. This increases the expression possibilities at the keyboard with the usual pedals. MIDI is communicated via the In/Out/Thru connection trio as well as USB. This is perfect for those who want to run additional equipment such as a rack expander or DAW with the Montage M6. In its capacity as a workstation and performance synthesizer, audio inputs should not be missing, of course! On the input side, the Montage M6 shines with a pair of Stereo line inputs; for signal output there are two balanced stereo outputs with large jack. furthermore, audio is also exchanged with the DAW via USB. Basically, six input channels and, depending on the configuration, eight outputs with 192 kHz or 32 outputs with 44.1 kHz are provided for this. There are two USB device ports for expanding the memory and connecting additional keyboards and controllers.
