The Yamaha MOXF8 Synthesizer Workstation is an 88-note Graded Hammer Standard workstation keyboard that boasts the Yamaha Motif XF sound engine, capability of up to 8 insert FX pairs, has 128 note polyphony and has a capacity to hold up to a 1GB flash ROM for a user’s personal samples. This is a great innovation from Yamaha which provides Motif sound quality and modern digital features all within a light and portable body.
The MOXF8 sound engine is based on the Motif XF sound engine providing a grand collection of instrument voices like pianos, electric pianos, strings, wind instruments, orchestral sounds, guitars, basses, drums and various vintage and up-to-date synth sounds. What is worth noting is that the Yamaha CFIIIS and S6 grand pianos have been included within the piano voices, and are absolutely excellent reproductions of these great pianos. Yamaha’s proprietary Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) provides accurate simulations of vintage EQs, compressors and phasers, giving users high quality effects at the touch of a button, including the award-winning REV-X reverb from the SPX2000.
Performance mode allows a combination of up to four voice parts to be played over one MIDI channel, this is great for playing a layer of sounds, including drums and bass backing tracks. The MOXF6 has 256 preset performances in various musical styles. The built-in sequencer allows for producing music without the need for a computer or other devices. The MOXF8 comes bundled with a bunch of software like the MOXF Editor for detailed editing of voice and mixing functions and the MOXF Remote Editor which allows for editing and controlling templates for VST instruments and Remote Tools, making functionality with the included Cubase AI7 extremely easy.
With one USB cable, all audio and MIDI data can be transferred between the MOXF8 and a computer. Built into the MOXF8 is a 4-in and 2-out USB audio interface, which provides for simple recording of internal sounds, as well as two audio inputs which can be used for guitar or vocals. Not only can the MOXF8 be used with Cubase AI7, but it can be used with all major DAWs, negating the need for an audio interface, just add a computer.
