The Yamaha CX40 II Electro Classical Guitar, Natural has been constructed using the same high quality components as the legendary C40 classical guitar but with the useful addition of functioning as an electro-classical guitar.
The Yamaha C40 range is renowned for its remarkable tone, playability and affordability that can happily accommodate a complete beginner right the way through to an experienced professional.
The CX40 II is constructed using meranti back and sides with a spruce top, nato neck and a rosewood fingerboard. The guitar has a beautiful natural gloss finish.
The built-in passive pickup system (Pickup system 50) consists of one piezo pickup positioned underneath the rosewood bridge giving the guitar an impressive amplified tone with exceptional clarity.
The Yamaha CX40 II Electro Classical Guitar, Natural features include:
Unplugged, this guitar sounds great but when plugged in the pickup gives a top heavy tone, with little bass. There is also a fair amount of hiss. It is perhaps expected for the price, but still a little disappointing. Unless you really need the pickup, the C 40 without it would be a better option.
I bought this guitar for my son to learn on, I lowered the action slightly, but it was acceptable as it came. It's a good option because it's good value, and if my son loses interest there wasn't a great outlay.
Quality Yamaha product at budget price. Nice rich tone and easy to play. I'll probably replace the strings for better quality ones but that's it. Bought as a 'Product return' (so saved some more money!) in mint condition. As new with all Yamaha packaging and paperwork. Can't fault guitar and service.
