The consideration was: a "real" grand piano should be it in principle - but this is sometimes too loud. "Silent pianos are already available, but not everyone wants to play only with headphones when the house is quiet, so you have to be able to hear and control a good, spatial grand piano sound without having to use headphones, amplifiers and speakers.
Yamaha's latest development (TransAcoustic™) covers all these features - a normal acoustic grand piano that can be muted if required and the (digital) grand piano sound can then be adjusted in volume as with a stereo system, without the need for amplifiers and speakers in the instrument.
This is made possible by two transducers that transmit the digital sound signal (i.e. the selected grand piano sound) to the soundboard; as a result, the acoustic, natural string resonances and pedal effects of the grand piano are interwoven with the digital sound and therefore sound extremely realistic, spatial and lively. And as a result, the feel of the keys, action and pedals is fully preserved, unlike the D piano.
Yamaha now offers the following grand piano models of the GC and C series with the TransAcoustic equipment: GC1 TransAcoustic TA2, C1x TransAcoustic TA2, C3x TransAcoustic TA2.
There are 19 high-quality sounds (various grand piano, harpsichord, organ, D piano and string sounds) to choose from (in addition to the beautiful acoustic sound of the grand piano itself, of course), which can also be connected to computers or recording devices if required, and which can be conveniently controlled using a free app.
In addition, you can, for example, add a little string sound to the "real" grand piano sound, which results in a nice orchestral sound effect.
