Optimal Playing Feel
The YDP-163 is equipped with a Graded Hammer 3 (GH3) keyboard. This keyboard is very pleasant to play and not only allows the beginner in piano playing an optimal playing feel. Practicing with this keyboard allows a good finger technique and thus for a good preparation for playing on an acoustic piano.
Pure CF Sound Engine
A highlight in the YDP-163 is certainly the Pure CF sound generation. This sound generation is the result of many years of piano building experience by Yamaha combined with state-of-the-art sampling technology. The famous CF IIIS grand piano was digitally recorded and reproduced with great attention to detail. It allows for detailed dynamics and expressiveness, and at the first note you will feel like you are playing a concert grand.
Easy Recording
Just hold on to your musical ideas. The YDP-163 has a built-in recording function, which allows you to record 2x tracks separately. For example, you can record the right and left hand separately, which is especially useful for practice purposes, and this at the touch of a button, without having to scroll through many menus.
Spatial Sound
If you use headphones when playing piano, the YDP-163's built-in Stereophonic Optimizer ensures that you hear spatial sound. You'll soon forget you're wearing headphones.

The synthetic ivory keys play great! I love the feel. The samples are a bit disappointing, but maybe I'm too much of a critic. I've got my own high end samples on my computer so I just connect the piano via USB and play through my studio monitors.
I bought the piano for learning purposes. All I can tell, it's perfect. It feels and sounds enough like a real piano. The most important options can made by the physical buttons, everything else can be set by the piano tiles. Easy to use, and a really beautiful instrument and furniture.
