The Warm Audio WA76-D2 is a faithful recreation of the legendary vintage "Rev D" FET compressor, combining classic analogue sound with modern features for today's studio. The fully analogue, discrete compressor offers all the classic controls expected from a 76-style compressor, including adjustable attack and release times, ratio and various VU meter display modes for gain reduction and +8 dB or +4 dB output. The high-quality CineMag O-12 input and 5002 output transformers used to ensure a warm and authentic sound character.
The WA76-D2 supports modern recording workflows with advanced functions such as parallel compression via the Dry-Wet Mix Control, active true bypass and a variable sidechain high-pass filter that specifically filters out unwanted bass frequencies from the compression.
In addition, the selectable input impedance (600 Ω or 10 kΩ) enables better adaptation to different audio interfaces and recording configurations. Meanwhile, the class-A line-level output amplifier ensures a high-quality signal. The frequency response of the compressor is ±1 dB between 20 Hz and 20 kHz, which covers the entire audible spectrum. The connections, which are designed as three-pin XLR and 6.35 mm jacks, are located on the rear of the 2 HU rack housing.
This FET compressor is ideal for a variety of applications such as processing vocals, compressing drum overheads and room microphones as well as the dynamic control of guitars. The"All Buttons In" setting also opens up further creative possibilities for experimental sounds and hard limiter effects.
