The plugin supports a 16-fold multitimbral mode that allows layering and splits according to key zones or velocity ranges. Rhythmic design options are provided by a freely programmable Arpeggiator with up to 16 steps, whose timing, accentuation and Velocity can be individually adjusted. Two effect slots per sound provide access to chorus, flanger, phaser, overdrive, Delay and reverb.

By integrating all factory presets of the Blofeld hardware including other original sounds, the sound character of the original can be seamlessly reproduced. Users can import and organize their own presets and add tags and comments. The plugin also enables direct communication with the Blofeld hardware and serves as an editor as well as for transferring MIDI presets, samples or wavetables.

The user interface of the Waldorf Blofeld plugin is freely scalable and offers MIDI CC mappings via MIDI Learn. The common plug-in formats VST, VST3, AAX and AudioUnit are supported, allowing the plug-in to be seamlessly integrated into any DAW environment under both macOS and Windows.
