The Vox Mini Go 50 is a compact Modelling Amplifier, which offers an enormous variety of possible Guitar Sounds in a lightweight and portable format. Based on the Vox Cambridge 50, this Ccombo-Style Modelling Amp offers a large section of classic sounds, additional Switchable Effects and even an extensive rhythm section for jamming and practising. The 11x built-in Amp Sounds cover a wide spectrum, from transparent Vox Cleans and famous American/British Voicings to High-Gain Metal sounds. The 8x Integrated Effects provide classic Modulation options and various Reverb and Delay types. The Mini Go also features a Tuner and even an additional Microphone Channel with its own Effects Section. On the road you can easily power this compact powerhouse with an external power bank via the rear USB port.
Had the Mini Go 50 for a few weeks now but have only really used it properly once. Not because I haven't wanted to, I've just been busy doing other things. I switched it on when I received it and made sure it was working... but then left it alone for a good couple of weeks.
Finally got to try it and I'm pretty pleased with the results. To be honest, I've got a lot of gear (combo amps, analogue pedals, a HeadRush pedalboard, a Yamaha THR10C etc, so the Mini Go is just for fun. I got it for the Vocoder and looper functions ad much as anything...and it doesn't disappoint! The combination of rhythms, looper, Vocoder and some fairly decent amp models is enough to keep someone entertained for ages...and it makes a great buskers amp, as it runs off a mobile phone battery, as well as mains. The 8 inch speaker struggles to cope with the full 50 watts but there are 5 watt and 0.5 watt options, too.
All in all I think the Mini Go 50 is a decent amp; very well built, good sounds and most of all, a lot of fun! I think you could probably get away with the Mini Go 10 version in most situations, which has pretty much all the options of the 50 at a lower price.
N.B. I think the Vox FS3 footswitch (which sadly is an optional extra) is an absolute necessity! You can't really start/stop the looper and rhythms manually and be able to accurately start playing at the right time.
