The Universal Audio Bock 187 is a large diaphragm condenser microphone with Class A FET circuitry and is inspired by the Neumann U87. The high quality of the microphone is guaranteed by the strict manufacturing specifications of microphone designer David Bock. It has a cardioid polar pattern, which means that the diaphragm only picks up sound from the main direction of incidence (from the front) and suppresses sound waves from the rear. The Universal Audio Bock 187 also has several useful functions that can be set using a switch on the back of the device. Firstly, there is the option of switching on the PAD, which attenuates the signal by 10dB, which is useful for recording pre-amplified guitars, for example. Next to this is the "Fat" switch, which boosts the low frequencies (between 10 and 400Hz). Finally, Universal Audio offers the option of setting a low cut at 120Hz on the Bock 187 to suppress noise in the low frequencies.
