The Universal Audio Apollo 8 is the consequence of continued development of one of the most popular interfaces in the world. Particular emphasis was placed on an improved sound quality in combination with the feeling and flow of analogue recordings. The 18x24 Thunderbolt interface unites new audio reference-class UAD-2 QUAD processing, original analogue UA circuit design as well as next generation A/D and D/A conversion in a sleek, new housing.
The Apollo 8 integrates Realtime UAD-2 processing and Unison Technology delivering analogue sound simultaneous recording with the use of vintage EQs, compressors, reverbs, tape machines and more together with the new Mic preamp emulation from Neve, API and Universal Audio at near-zero latency. The Apollo Expanded Software allows for the cascading of up to four Apollo devices in one system via Thunderbolt (Mac), giving studios the possibilities to expand seamlessly in the future.
The audio quality of the Apollo 8 was improved even further in comparison with the reference sound of the original Apollo. The completely redeveloped A/D and D/A conversion delivers an increased dynamic range and lower distortion factor. This results in breath-taking purity, depth and sound accuracy throughout the entire recording workflow, starting with recordings and overdubs all the way to mixdown and mastering.
