If you want to harness the full and inimitable saturation of a cranked-up tube power amp even in moderate volume ranges, the Tube Amp Doctor Silencer is the perfect choice. The compact attenuator transfers only a part of the incoming power to the connected speaker cabinets, while the remaining energy is converted into heat via an internal load resistor. Here, the Power control regulates the reduction of power going out to the cabinet, while the Fine control allows for additional fine-tuning of power reduction. This way, even the biggest amplifier can be played in the living room with full Tube Saturation without annoying the neighbors!
Caution: During operation with powerful guitar amps in LOAD setting, the Silencer converts a lot of power into heat. Make sure that the Tube Amp Doctor Silencer is always well ventilated, the rear fan remains free and the unit can be cooled by the ambient air!
If the power control is set completely counterclockwise to LOAD, the Silencer can also be used as a load box. In this mode, no additional cabinet is required as a load resistor, allowing for first-class recordings via the rear line output with continuously adjustable output volume. Furthermore, an F.A.N.T.A. (Frequency Adapted Natural Tone Accessory) connector in XLR format is on board, which gives the outgoing signal an authentic cabinet simulation.
For further tone shaping there are two switches Bite and Punch on the front of the Tube Amp Doctor Silencer: Bite gives an additional boost to the treble range of the sound image, while Punch provides a boost to the bass and low-mids.
