Multi-effect for acoustic guitar without amplifier with 8 effects
With the Tonewood ToneWoodAmp Solo, the American innovation company of the same name presents a multi-effects device in pocket format that can produce eight different effects with an acoustic guitar and without an amplifier. Accordingly, the first knob provides 3 reverb types, Delay, Leslie, Tremolo, Auto-Wah and Overdrive, while the second knob can be used to edit effect parameters. In addition, 10 user memory spaces are available for the individually preferred effect sounds. The third control can be used to adjust either the volume or the gain level.
All settings can be read off via an LED display. The installation is kept simple by magnets and by battery operation with 3 AA batteries giving 8 hours of run time. The ¼” jack output can be connected to an amp or PA system, while a USB port is available for firmware updates. Additionally, iOS effect apps can be fed in via a mini-jack insert input.
The main features of the Tonewood ToneWoodAmp Solo include:
Only used it for a few days but slowly getting the hang of it. At the moment I can't find a comprehensive written manual on line (nothing came with it) - though there are some very good videos on individual aspects. Being a classical guitarist, I have long nails on my right hand and find the knobs (dials) rather small to get hold of easily - but I can 'roll' them with my thumb. Other than that, it was easy to install and I may even get another separate magnetic arm to go inside other guitars. One thing that was never mentioned however is that it has to be removed to fit the guitar in its case.
Whilst installation seemed a bit daunting it was actually really easy on my Grand Auditorium guitar. The effect was a bit strong but set up guided by the sequence of short videos soon sorted that and getting the sound balanced through the notch filters function simple. Once running after about an hour installing and tweaking it brings a whole new dimension to my guitar and inspired new licks and grooves. Loving it . Build quality could be better but for the money it will be great for those fireside sessions. The firmware upgrade and chorus effect is a must, as is the Lindsey!
this small device generates an amazing variety of sounds through the guitar body, you can take it anywhere and play like you have your own studio amp set up with you at all times, fantastic
