TipTop Audio has collaborated with Buchla to create a completely Eurorack-compatible version of the dual analogue oscillator. This is no less a module than the Programmable Complex Waveform Generator from 1981. This version of the classic largely corresponds to the original circuit and has been supplemented with TipTop's ART control, Eurorack-compatible voltages and even better tracking.
The oscillators have different frequency ranges depending on the mode. There are 1V Oct / ART inputs and two FM inputs per oscillator for controlling and modulating the pitch.
The modulation oscillator offers three standard waveforms that cannot be changed further. On the one hand, this oscillator is an independent sound source that perfectly complements the sound spectrum of the principal oscillator, and on the other hand - and this is the highlight of this module - it can modulate the principal in a complex way!
The Modulation Index is responsible for this and offers the four options Phase Lock, Amplitude Mod, Pitch Mod and Timbre Mod simultaneously with adjustable intensity if required. Specifically, the modulation oscillator can modulate the pitch, volume, timbre or phase lock of the principal oscillator.
The principal oscillator itself is the main oscillator in this combination. Its primary waveforms are sine and square. However, the sonic focus is created by the harmonics section, which is basically an excellent sounding wavefolder. This is fed from the sine waveform and produces metallic and organic-sounding waveforms that can be extensively modulated. The signal from the wavefolder is available at the final output. Musically, the 259t offers a very wide range of common 2-VCO sounds, but also a whole host of totally crazy sounds that are only known in this form from the Buchla universe.
The gate outputs are a special feature of the ART control, a new high-speed transmission standard from TipTop Audio. With the Model 259t, this means that in addition to the exact pitch,
