Sinker-Redwood: A rare raw material from northern California.

To produce a rich and warm tone, the manufacturer Taylor uses a rough-grained top made of sinker redwood for the PS14ce LTD. The rare sequoia wood is obtained from already felled trunks, some of which have lain under water for up to a century and can therefore vary greatly in grain, giving the sound its own unique character. In addition to warm overtones, which are particularly long-lasting thanks to the V-Class bracing developed by Andy Powers, the material allows an almost attack with expressive bass frequencies that perfectly complement the sound image. The reddish wood is framed with an ebony binding that merges into an armrest on the upper rib, ensuring perfect playability. Furthermore, the Binding is additionally decorated with inlays of paua, which lends the overall appearance a very noble touch and perfectly matches the single ring paua soundhole rosette.

Another highlight of the thoroughly successful Grand Auditorium model is the body made of Macassar ebony, which perfectly complements the overall sound with its clear note. The coarse grain of the tonewood, which is divided into four compartments, gives the instrument a noble and symmetrical appearance with its light and dark color gradients, which is further emphasized by a 3.5 mm thin finish and an edge burst finish. The body is bordered by a multi-layered ebony/abalone purfling, which creates a tasteful transition to the other components of the body. The delicate bracing of the back also favors the strong vibration behavior of the entire construction and allows for a perfect sound development even at low strums, so that besides powerful strummings also fine Pickings can be fully appreciated.

Only the finest materials are used in the neck construction of this special model as well, so that even the fingering of extensive sequences of notes and chords can be mastered with ease. The flat mahogany neck is fitted with a fingerboard made of West African ebony, which is decorated with detailed Nouveau inlays made of mother-of-pearl that mark the most important of the 20 frets. In tandem with a compensated Micarta bridge inlay, the 44.45mm-wide Black Graphite nut ensures clean intonation across the 648mm scale, while gold Gotoh 510 tuners with 1:21 ratios ensure clean tuning of the six steel strings. The signature Taylor headstock is adorned with a fine paua nouveau inlay set into a dark ebony overlay. Completing the whole works is an in-house Taylor Expression System 2, which can be individually adjusted via three potentiometers in the rib.
