The Tascam TM-280 large diaphragm condenser microphone is the top model in the Tascam microphone series. Thanks to its high sound pressure compatibility, it is not only suitable for recording vocals or lead instruments, but also for louder sound sources such as brass or percussion instruments. Thanks to its 34mm gold-plated diaphragm, the TM-280 delivers the typical warm sound of large-diaphragm microphones with a slight increase in presence in the high-frequency range.
The circuit in the TM-280 consists of selected discrete electronic components that result in a total signal-to-noise ratio of 80 dB.
The TM-280 has a unidirectional or cardioid polar pattern. This type of directivity is ideal for vocals and other individual sound sources because it mainly picks up sound from the front and attenuates sound sources coming in from the sides and back.
As a large diaphragm microphone is sensitive to structure-borne noise, the TM-280 is supplied with a professional elastic suspension. It ensures that the microphone is securely attached and protects it from vibrations transmitted from the microphone stand. Also included is a microphone pop protector that reduces explosive sounds when recording vocals. This pop screen can be attached to the elastic suspension. And last but not least, a stable flight case ensures that your microphone reaches another location undamaged.
The TM-280's wide frequency range and cardioid characteristic make it a perfect all-round microphone for recording vocals, acoustic stringed instruments, brass instruments and other sound sources in ambitious home or project studios.
