The Tascam SB-16D is a Dante-enabled active stagebox with 16 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs. As an analog interface with 32-bit A/D converters and Class 1 HDIA microphone preamps, the SB-16D captures audio signals at the very beginning of the signal path in the highest quality. Multiple units can be used simultaneously on a Dante network - floor-standing or rack-mounted.
With the same performance and hardware quality as Tascam's Sonicview live recording consoles, the SB-16D offers all the benefits of Dante networking, combined with seamless integration with Sonicview 16 and Sonicview 24 and other Dante-enabled products from Tascam - and other manufacturers.
With 16 XLR mic/line inputs and 16 XLR line outputs, large ensembles and extensive Dante installations are effortless. Need more inputs and outputs? Simply network multiple SB-16Ds. The mic/line inputs are extremely quiet, reaching -128 dBu ON and allowing a maximum input level of +32 dBu.
Each input channel offers switchable 48 volt phantom power with indicator, and signal and overload LEDs to monitor input levels. Level meters on the line outputs indicate the presence of signals.
In addition to AES67 and SMPTE 2110, the stagebox supports the Dante domain manager. Two Dante ports with etherCON-compatible network connectors enable redundant streams with stable connections. For increased system reliability, there is a DC input for a redundant power supply (not included).
When an SB-16D stagebox is connected to a Tascam Sonicview, you can remotely control the microphone gain from the mixer. All inputs and outputs are displayed on the touch screens, making operation very easy. furthermore, the SB-16D is equipped with a GPIO interface with eight inputs and outputs. In conjunction with a Sonicview mixer, these can be expanded to 16 GPIO inputs and outputs, allowing parallel control.
As with Sonicview mixers, each microphone input feeds a Tascam Class-1 HDIA (High Definition Instrumentation Architecture) preamplifier. Thanks to an instrumentation amplifier with exceptionally good first-stage noise performance, these mic preamps have excellent values for equivalent input noise (ON), signal-to-noise ratio, distortion, and frequency response. The microphone inputs are rated for signal levels up to +32 dBu and provide ample headroom for unexpected level peaks.
The combination of Class 1 HDIA preamps, 32-bit A/D converters, and a 96 kHz sampling frequency ensures a premium sound that will never disappoint.
Whether you need a networked stagebox for the stage floor or inputs and outputs for recording and broadcast studios and commercial installations in a rack, the SB-16D offers both. With the included brackets that allow two different angles, it will fit in an EIA rack (3U). Mount the header on the front of the rack and use the SB-16D's cable hole to conveniently and securely route connected cables to the rear.
Large rubber feet provide stability even with cables connected when the SB-16D is used as a floor box. Multiple stageboxes can be stacked for easy transport and stability when set up. And the handle makes the SB-16D easy to transport.
Whether your SB-16D is on stage, backstage, in a control room, or in an equipment cabinet, you're always in full control with free Tascam IO Control software for Windows, macOS, and iPadOS. Control your stagebox from virtually anywhere in the venue, even when using the SB-16D in standalone mode.
