It allows simultaneous recording of 8 tracks directly to micro SD or to DAW and is equally suitable for recording sessions, synchronous operation with a video camera and atmo recordings in the great outdoors. 4 microphones as well as an external line source can be connected. In addition, the Protacapture X8 has 2 swiveling condenser capsules that can be recorded on separate tracks. With the optional AK-BT1 Bluetooth module, the Portacapture X8 can be remotely controlled from any mobile device or computer with Bluetooth capability. Supporting uninterrupted recording, the Portacapture X8 is also suitable for the demanding user: Charged with 4 AA batteries and eg. connected to a powerbank via USB, the device switches lossless to the other power source, should one fail.
6 Recording Modes & DSP Processor
The Portacapture X8 is equipped with extensive software functions. Directly via the 3.5" touch screen, the 6 basic modes for various applications, the internal recording folders, a metronome and a tuner can be selected by means of intuitive menu navigation. The basic operating modes differ essentially in their user-friendliness, which is tailored to the intended use.
The following operating modes are available:
Manual: All channels are clearly displayed in a virtual mixing console and can be levelled, mixed and stretched with a swipe. If desired, a recording wizard takes over the leveling (Auto Gain). Each channel can be assigned a low-pass filter, gate, compressor and semi-parametric EQ. A reverb effect is available as a send.
Voice: The menu is reduced to one mono channel.
Podcast: The interface is designed to record 2 microphone signals and background music. User-definable sounds can be controlled via pad zones on the touch screen.
Music: A dynamics preset (grand piano, acoustic guitar, vocals, wind instrument, string instrument, band) can be loaded for each channel. The reverb channel is directly accessible from the first menu page.
Field: The menu shows a stereo channel. A low/high gain switch, the low pass filter and a number of atmo presets (city, nature, vehicles, birds) are directly available.
ASMR: The recording interface is reduced to 2 channels here and is much more intuitive to use.
