The compact Tascam DR-05XP is a portable audio recorder with integrated directional microphones and a wide range of recording functions. It supports microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC cards with a capacity of up to 512 GB and can record in WAV (BWF) and MP3 formats. Recording takes place in 16-bit, 24-bit or 32-bit float with sampling rates of up to 96 kHz. The two directional electret condenser microphones enable high-resolution stereo recordings with natural sound reproduction. Alternatively, an external microphone can be connected via the 3.5 mm jack input, with a power supply available for small microphones.
Functions such as overdub, automatic level adjustment, a switchable reverb effect and a depth filter extend the recorder's range of applications. Pre-recording saves up to two seconds before the record button is pressed, while the device automatically creates a new file when the maximum size is reached.
The DR-05XP can be used as an audio interface for Windows, macOS and iOS. The connection is made via USB-C, whereby an optional ASIO driver can be used under Windows. A built-in speaker with 0.3 W output power enables direct playback.
Power is supplied via two AA batteries, a USB cable or an optional mains adapter. To secure the device, it has a HOLD switch that prevents accidental operation. The DR-05XP can also be fixed to a tripod using the 1/4" thread.
