The Mic Mechanic 2 from TC Helicon is a compact and flexible vocal effects unit for live and studio applications, which not only scores with various reverb (room, club, reverb) and echo (tape, digital, slap) presets, but also offers adjustable pitch correction and a built-in tone function. The latter enables an optimized sound through the internal EQ, compressor, de-esser and gate modules and gets the best out of even semi-professional equipment.
The built-in footswitch is not only there to mute the effects, but also serves as a tap switch for the echo effects. You just have to press and hold the switch until the LED starts to light up and you can set your own tempo by pressing it repeatedly. In order to relieve the artist of as much work as possible, the Mic Mechanic 2 works with automatic input gain - so there are no additional controls, which makes for more clarity and faster work. With the rear XLR connections are served professional standards, while TC Helicon here still offers the possibility between the battery or 9V adapter operation together with the compact and very robust design so perfect for pedalboard lovers.
Had a little issue when the 'correction' (for vocal tuning) feature is enabled as the audio would occasionally deteriorate with this. Other than this, it brings a great sound to my vocals! Very happy with my purchase.
I needed this to replace one which I had stolen from me. It is an excellent pedal, simple to use, bombproof and with excellent sound. Can't recommend it enough.
This little unit is fantastic for a solo/small band act. It gives delay + reverb and compression to your vocal mix, and also has EQ and auto-tune It has an ability to set the delay time manually, and gives a few different delay/reverb modes. It' does what it claims to do very easily. There are no user presets, so without manualy changing settings during a gig, it has basically 1 "patch". It's great, and I love it. For bigger gigs where more patches are required, this is not good enough, but for small pubs/restaurants/weddings, it's perfect. I would buy it again...
I got this to use with my apogee into my iPhone for streaming live gig. Sounds great when monitored but you only get a subtle amount come through when recorded, but this could be the interface processing the signal. I’m still very happy with it, as it means I don’t have a dry vocal.
