Compact bass top with 200 watts of power and 3-band EQ
With the TC Electronic BAM200, the Danish effects manufacturer is sending an extremely compact bass top into the race, which, with its low weight, compact format and first-class sound, proves to be the ideal companion for frequently traveling bassists. While the modern Class D power amplifier with up to 200 watts of power provides sufficient power reserves for recording studios and small gigs, the MOSFET preamp impresses with a particularly harmonious sound that is clearly oriented towards large tube amps in terms of feel and response. A classic 3-band tone control is available to adjust the sound. In addition to a balanced DI output for direct connection to audio interfaces or mixing consoles, the TC Electronic BAM200 also offers a headphone connection with speaker simulation for practicing.
The TC Electronic BAM200 is a compact bass amplifier with 200 watts of power and 3-band tone control.
Solid build, great sound quality, plenty of volume and so small in size. A great practice amp and will be used as a back up amp, all at a bargain price.
I’ve got this as a backup amp in case my main amp ever fails, but also using it as a home/practice setup with a spare speaker. If you’re looking for a small, portable, no-frills amp then this has to be the best value buy. Great clean sound, and nice tone section. Seems very solidly built.
I wanted something small to use with a 1x15 to make a portable home use / small rig and this seemed to tick the boxes, as well as being the cheapest in it's class. It definitely delivers.
Sound-wise it's a little bit anaemic. It's essentially a DI with an EQ and a power amp so don't expect too much. Nevertheless it's decent enough and would get you through a gig if your main amp crapped out on you. I always planned to put a Sansamp in front of it anyway so it isn't an issue. It's plenty loud enough for home use although I imagine it would struggle to keep up with a hard hitting drummer, particularly with an 8 ohm load.
It is however built like a tank. It's very solid and not much bigger than a 1590BB so it's going to fit in a gig bag no problem.
I will definitely get another if it gets lost / stolen dies etc
