The poplar body in traditional Preci design takes up a stable and comfortable playing position both on the strap and on the thigh, while the bolt-on maple neck sits comfortably in the hand thanks to the "Modern C" profile, making every note feel like it's happening by itself on the Indian-Laurel fretboard. With the typical Squier Standard split-coil in the middle position and a Squier Standard Jazz Bass single-coil at the bridge, this four-string delivers versatile sounds ranging from wiry, mid-range assertiveness to rich low-end thrust. The classic passive circuit with two volume controls and a treble control offers a wide range of tones. Absolutely superb. Don't be fooled by the price. You could pay 5x as much or more for a top notch bass and TBH it would be better than this one, but only a tiny bit better. Only a rabid enthusiast could tell the difference by ear!
BTW, the 4 star rating for appearance is because I was persuaded to get a white one when I really wanted the red version. Not really fair to mark it down for that, but hey - that's rock and roll!
I was looking for this bass for a while and I asked local shops and a lot of other online shops but all of which did not have it in race red. I got the bass very quickly in the post and very well wrapped, I was delighted when I took it out of the packaging and got to play it as it really is a beautiful all rounded bass. I would definitely recommend this product and Music Store as everything was flawless.
Picked this up as I am getting back into playing again due to a request from some olde band acquaintances and it’s pretty decent, action is a little high so quite a bit of pressure on the fingers but can’t grumble and if I get to record and gig I can alway have it dropped a little 👍
I bought this bass as something cheap to customise and an alternative to my £1800 Gibson T-bird. However the Squier has really impressed me, I was planning on upgrading the pickups, but while practicing at home I really love the sound of the Squier pickups so they are staying. The build quality seems very decent too. The chrome is all very good quality but I'm not a fan of chrome so have replaced the bridge, tuners, control knobs, pickguard screws, jack socket, string tensioner and strap holders with black replacements, which I prefer the look of now. Can't stop playing this bass, it's awesome!
