Effects pedal for atmospheric ambient sounds
The Solid Gold FX Ether is a flexible Reverb pedal from the Canadian effects factory in Montreal that is particularly suited for atmospheric ambient sounds with modulated reverb tails and the coveted shimmer effect. For processing the reverb, the effect pedal offers three different modulation effects: Tremolo, Harmonic Tremolo and Vibrato. While the Tap Tempo function allows you to conveniently adjust the effect to the song speed, the Depth control provides access to different waveforms for adjusting the sound character. In addition, the Ether pedal from Solid Gold FX offers the possibility to hold the reverb tail indefinitely and thus set accents for expressive electric guitar playing.
Plastic Reverb Effect
The heart of the Solid Gold FX Ether is an especially plastic sounding reverb effect. While the Color knob determines the tone of the reverb, the Decay knob adjusts the decay time of the reverb and thus allows the representation of different reverberation spaces, from a small room to a huge cathedral.
Three modulation effects for the reverb tail
In order to create atmospheric ambient soundscapes from the plastic Reverb, the Ether comes up with three modulation effects that can be placed over the reverb tail. While the Tremolo effect increases and decreases the volume of the reverb, the Vibrato varies its pitch. In addition, the Harmonic Vibrato alternately emphasizes the low and high frequency ranges of the reverb tail for a particularly characterful imprint of the effect.
Precise adjustment of the modulation
To adjust the speed of the selected modulation effect, Solid Gold FX equips the Ether with an extremely handy tap-tempo function in addition to the Speed control. The Depth kn ob not only provides access to the depth and thus the intensity of the modulation, but also to its waveform. In the 12 o'clock position of the knob, the LFO of the effect pedal operates with a special waveform that is optimally matched to the selected effect. Turned clockwise, the knob selects a sine wave and its depth, while turning it counterclockwise selects a sawtooth wave.
