The Softube Harmonics is an analogue sounding saturation plug-in from Softube with a unique method to analyse incoming signals and colour them with 5x different distortion sounds. The input signal is "listened to" by the plugin and analysed to preserve the dynamics and detail even after strong distortion. The user naturally gets full control over the degree of saturation: on-board is the Amount control for controlling the degree, the Character controls for tone and colour of distortion, High and Low Cut filters that can be placed before or after distortion, a Dry/Wet button for parallel processing and an integrated THD meter that allows fine control of subtle saturation. In addition, there are pre-sets by Joe Chiccarelli and Howard Willing for jump-starting, inspiration or simply as a starting point.
Have you ever tried to add that certain something to your track by adding distortions that end in a washed-out, lifeless sound? Guitars, Vocals, Drums, Basses, even Synths often need a little more strain to push them forward in the mix, but unfortunately distortions can destroy the dynamics and cause more problems than they solve. If you use them too gently, your sound will not cut through the mix. But if you go a bit more aggressive, the recording suddenly sounds too broken and unusable. Transients merge, details and definitions wash out and everything ends in a big opaque mix. Softube Harmonics is perhaps the best way to remedy this: With its 5x completely different sounding distortion styles, high and low cut filters, a mix control and more, and you get a very powerful secret weapon for every genre.
