Shure SM7B Integrated Preamp
A true studio standard
The Shure SM7B is a cardioid dynamic microphone with a frequency response of 50 to 13,000Hz (@ -3db). It is ideal for vocal and speechrecordings. Due to its exceptionally clear and warm output, the SM7B has already made a name for itself in numerous radio stations and has also found its way into countless music studios as a vocal microphone. With its dynamic design, it is also very popular as a microphone for recording guitar and bass amplifiers.
Absolute classic
The SM7B is an absolute classic among dynamic microphones and an excellent choice for studio, broadcast and live applications.
Caution: The microphone has a very low output level * A powerful, low-noise preamplifier should therefore be used, especially when recording vocals. The Preamps built into most audio interfaces are not sufficient for this. A common method is to use a small plug-on preamp or inline preamp. Alternatively, an external preamplifier with high gain reserves such as the ART Tube MP, the Black Lion Audio B12A or a Neve clone from Warm Audio or Golden Age Project is recommended. to exploit the full potential of the Shure SM7B, you should not cut corners here!
*In fact, this is not because the SM7B is a large diaphragm microphone, as is often wrongly assumed, but because the microphone has no output transformer, which is normally used for level boosting.

Everything included
To suppress low-frequency noise, the microphone is equipped with a low-cut filter and also has a presence boost. Both filter functions can be operated via a switch plate on the back of the SM7B. The integrated, air-cushioned shock absorber prevents almost any mechanical transmission. Also on board are two windscreens, which can be replaced as required and ensure clean recordings without plosive sounds. The robust swivel mount enables precise positioning with a secure hold.
This mic is a standard. The SM7 was used to record Michael Jackson's voice in Thriller and, while initially this choice by the engineer (Bruce Swedien) raised some eyebrows, we all know how the story ended. The SM7B is by many considered sonically equivalent to the SM7. For voice, I prefer to use it with a Tritonaudio FetHead. But this mic is also perfect for guitar amps (many prefer it to the SM57) or for kick drum.
Well, it's really a good one, studiowise or homewise, it works for me, many comdenser mics don't appeal to me at all, but this dynamic (sic) mic is really nice
As always Music Store have given me a quality product in good time . I have been shopping with them for 25yrs , back to the days of C O Delivery and have never had to return a product . Thank you Music Store from Ireland
Though vocal mic choice is very personal, this one is known as a solid all-arounder. Its definitely a good studio tool, a one to have. As a vocal mic, if you like the sound of SM58, this one is a more refined and characterful version of it, with a studio quality.
