The
Schoeps Mk 21 Microphone Capsule
has a directivity which lies between Omni-Directional and Cardioid, and combines the advantages of both directional characteristics: for example, its Low-Frequency Response is extended to 30Hz compared to a conventional Cardioid with a reduced proximity effect, while its directivity still allows it to be considered for e.g. M/S stereophony. Like all Schoeps capsules, the Mk 21 achieves an impressively stable polarity, so that all sound sources can be recorded naturally, undistorted and simultaneously with a warm sound. Due to its reduced directivity, this Capsule is not ideal for use with the XY method.
