Classically built five-string with high playing comfort.
For his Signature model, Ken Taylor together with the bass builders from Sandberg selected classic tonewoods. The comfortably designed body is made of ash, while maple and mahogany are used for the six-bolt neck. Combined with the traditional 34" long scale length (864 mm), the 5-string Bass delivers a balanced tone with crisp response and even sustain that accurately reproduces even the B string. To ensure that every groove comes off the fingers with ease on the 24-fret ebony fingerboard, the Bass also features a flat C-neck profile with just 20 mm of wood under the first fret.
Fat sound with high variability
For the electric tone conversion of the Basic Ken Taylor 5 E-Bass, Peter Maffay's bassist chose two powerful Sandberg power humbuckers that provide him with the perfect foundation for his virtuoso bass playing. With their punchy sound, smooth response and high assertiveness, the pickups present every note with precision, bringing even the low B string to the fore across all registers with rich punch and defined tonal culture. Thanks to the split switch, the humbuckers can also be split and operated as single coils, so that particularly brilliant sounds of traditional character are available. To further customize the sound, an active 3-band equalizer is also on board.
Indestructible Sandberg Hardware
As Hardware for his Bass Ken Taylor chose indestructible parts from Sandberg. Thanks to the three-dimensionally adjustable tailpieces, the Sandberg Bridge 5 not only guarantees exact intonation and comfortable string position, but also a string spacing that is optimally adjusted to your own playing style. Behind the zero fret and nut, encapsulated Sandberg Die-Cast Machine Heads on the headstock also ensure precise and robust tuning of the electric bass guitar.
Ken Taylor
Born in London in 1952 as the son of Jamaican emigrants, Ken Taylor came into contact with music at an early age. At first he played as a rhythm guitarist, before he discovered the still young rock music for himself through Jimi Hendrix. Almost at the same time, Ken Taylor first picked up the electric bass, on which he developed his virtuoso and band-serving style through persistent practice. As a reliable and creative sideman Ken Taylor could immortalize himself on recordings of John Mayall, Brian May, Bruce Springsteen and the Scorpions, among others. In 1993 Peter Maffay hired Ken Taylor as a permanent member of his Peter Maffay Band, with whom he has since completed countless tours and recordings.
