Just in time for the company's 30th anniversary, the Braunschweig-based bass smithy presents the Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5 30th Anniversary, a special model that celebrates this special occasion. Based on the popular Signature electric bass of the Peter Maffay bassist, the five-string convinces thanks to chrome-plated hardware and two Powerhumbucker pickups including active electronics both in visual and sound terms.
The Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5 30th Anniversary comes in a noble anniversary outfit with black highgloss finish and chrome-plated metal parts.
Proven woods and construction methods form the construction basis for the Sandberg Basic Ken Tylor 5 30th Anniversary. The alder body and the sixfold screwed maple neck with rosewood fingerboard promise a harmoniously balanced primary tone with a crisp response, which also incorporates the low B-string with precise articulation into the sound. The slim neck with "D"-profile offers a high playing comfort in all techniques, so that nothing stands in the way of hours of fatigue-free bass playing. Another visual highlight of the Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 30th Anniversary is the anniversary inlay in the 12th fretboard fretboard.
With two Sandberg Powerhumbuckers in the bridge and middle position, the Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor covers a variable sound spectrum, ranging from a rich low end thrust to a wirey, assertive power sound. The H-string is also reproduced with harmonic precision. The split switch also allows the two humbuckers to be split, providing transparent single coil accents in bass sound. Furthermore, the Sandberg Ken Taylor is equipped with an active 3-band tone control with which the sound character can be finely nuanced. If necessary, the push/pull switch integrated in the volume potentiometer bypasses the active electronics so that the five string bass can also be played passively.
Matching the deep black high gloss finish of the Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5 30th Anniversary, the chrome hardware sets optical accents. The strings are held on the body side of the solid Sandberg Bridge 5, whose heavy construction contributes significantly to the strong character tone, while string riders adjustable in three dimensions guarantee a perfect adjustment of intonation and string position. Creamy Sandberg Diecast Machine Heads at the headstock ensure a perfect and long-lasting tuning of the bass guitar. The unique anniversary look is further enhanced by the chrome caps of the two humbuckers, the chrome-plated control plate and the black pickguard with hairline.
In 2016, the cult bass smithy Sandberg can already look back on 30 successful years in music business. Founded by Holger Stonjek, who still holds the reins today, and Gerd Gorzelke, the first bass workshop was located in a converted pigsty with the address "Am Sandberg 18" in Wolfsburg, to which the company name also goes back. Shortly after the company was founded, the company moved to neighbouring Braunschweig, where the basses are still produced today. From a small two-man business, Sandberg has developed into a medium-sized company with around 20 employees. In addition, as time went by, Griffen became more and more famous musicians on instruments by Sandberg, including Oliver Riedel (Rammstein), Ida Nielsen (Prince), Ken Taylor (Peter Maffay) and Torsten Scholz (Beatsteaks).
