Samson C01 Overview
With the C01, Samson offers a large diaphragm condenser microphone at an unbeatable price-performance ratio. The microphone is sturdily built and its 19mm capsule ensures a very flat frequency response and very good sensitivity, so that even distant sound sources can be clearly recorded. The Samson C01 microphone comes with a screw-on holder and a case.
This isn't the greatest microphone in the world. So if you're looking for a truly professional recording microphone, then feel free to spend £150 on a Rode NT1-A Microphone*.
However, I would say this is probably 85-90% as good as the Rode. For a 25% of the price. This microphone is perfect for almost everyone, whether you're recording demos, podcasting or voice acting. It sports a sturdy aluminium body, looks professional and sound good; and you can't go wrong with it.
The only negative I have is the microphone clip is plastic. Its a very durable plastic, but I would have liked to have seen a metal clip with a butterfly head screw to tighten it up. Its a bit difficult to angle it at anything than near vertical or up side down, and I didn't have a flat head screwdriver large enough to tighten it up.
While it doesn't come with accessories like the listing says, it does come with the microphone clip, which is not shown on the website.
* = both were tested through a 3rd Generation Focusrite 4i4, for both talking and singing.
Bought this for home recording vocals and instruments during lockdown as we cannot go to studios. Great product. I use this with the focusrite solo gen3. Great sound, clear sound. Works great with vocals and guitars! Give it a go! It’s a must have for anyone recording at home
