The Rycote Modular Windshield WS 7 Kit is a flexible and comprehensive windshield and suspension package suitable for directional microphones with a length of 401 mm to 450 mm and a diameter of 19 to 34 mm. This kit provides superior protection against wind and handling noise and is compatible with microphones that have a three-pin XLR connector.

The Set consists of three main components: the Modular Suspension, the Modular Windshield and the Windjammer. This modular system solution makes it possible to suspend almost any microphone and provide it with different levels of wind protection. The components can be ordered individually or as part of a kit, simplifying the choice for many common configurations.

Modular Suspension

Rycote's Modular Suspension is an advanced suspension system that provides complete isolation from handling and cable noise. The microphone is held in a lyre suspension specifically designed to minimize vibration and noise. This suspension is made of robust, durable material that is versatile enough to absorb movement but stable enough to hold the microphone securely. The Modular Suspension is compatible with various microphones and can be easily adjusted to ensure perfect balance and optimal performance

Windshield

The windshield completely encloses the microphone and its connector and forms the first layer of protection against wind noise. This basket is made of flexible gray plastic mesh covered with a special shielding material. This construction creates a silent air space around the microphone, effectively reducing wind noise by up to 30 dB. The windscreen is lightweight yet robust to withstand the demands of professional use. It simply slides onto the Modular Suspension for seamless integration and reliable protection.

Windjammer

The Windjammer, introduced by Rycote in 1985, is a high-quality synthetic fur cover. This cover provides an additional 20 dB of wind noise reduction, making it ideal for use in extreme weather conditions. The Windjammer fits perfectly over the windshield basket and is equipped with a drawstring and toggle closure for an easy and tight fit. The use of high-quality synthetic fur maintains acoustic transparency while ensuring maximum wind noise attenuation.
