ROLAND SPD-SX Sampling Pad at a glance
The ultimate sampling instrument as a Drum trigger multi-pad
The SPD-SX Sampling Pad from Roland is the successor to the successful SPD-S pad. Powerful sampling and editing functions, innovative recording functions and three multi-effects processors make it the ideal addition for acoustic and electric drums. Loops Trigger your own drum grooves, drum samples and effect sounds and edit them with internal effects. A creative electric drum instrument for live and recording applications.
Versatile use alongside acoustic and electric drums and in the recording studio
The SPD-SX Sampling Pad can be used in every conceivable situation. Whether on electric drums, acoustic drums or in a Percussion setup, the sampling pad's multifunctional sampling technology brings a breath of fresh air and interesting musical mixes to the mix, promising impressive performances. The SPD-SX also cuts more than just a good figure on the keyboard rack, in combination with synthesizers and workstations as well as in the recording studio thanks to its impressive selection of features.
Multi-effect processors
The Sampling Pad has three multi-effects processors, consisting of a main unit and two further effects units to which individual kits can be assigned. Real-time processing of the main unit via the two controllers and the four buttons allows the simultaneous control ofindividual effects such as loopers, Delay or filters. The possibilities for optimizing your own sounds seem almost endless. Underlaying samples with a click or adjusting the volume of individual wave information is also possible, as are multiple assignments of individual pads.

Multi Pad Sampling
Each pad can easily be provided with sounds from the USB device or another audio source using the MultiPad Sampling function. All you have to do is strike the pad at the desired time marker to start and stop the recording. This makes it easy to create huge arrangements, multisample phrases or pad maps in no time at all and call them up just as easily. The settings made can be saved in up to 100 kits for later recall.
Elegant design and further options
All in all, the ROLAND SPD-SX Sampling Pad is an instrument that is hard to beat in terms of complexity and helpful features and functions. Only the elegant design can outstrip the functionality. Completely black with red highlights, the SPD-SX Sampling Pad is a real feast for the eyes in all setups. If the sampling pad is still not enough for you, you can upgrade your SPD-SX with additional accessories from Roland, such as the matching stand or additional trigger pads.
Various connection options
A range of connections enables the connection of various devices. Starting with two trigger Stereo inputs, which allow the connection of up to four mono or two Stereo pads, the aforementioned USB port, two sub and MasterOut (L/MONO, R),two audio in (L/MONO, R), two MIDI in and out as well as two inputs for attaching additional footswitches, the SPD-SX Sampling Pad is a true all-rounder with inexhaustible musical and playful potential.
Helpful manager software for the computer
The SPD-SX Sampling Pad from Roland has no less than 16 gigabytes of free space available for the user. Expressed in figures, this means a playing time of around 50 hours at 44.1 kHz in mono or 25 hours in stereo. Up to 10,000 samples can be fed into the Sampling Pad, allowing the player to always have all his sounds with him and to be sufficiently equipped for every performance. With the Wave Manager, the settings and pad assignments can also be conveniently controlled on the computer, so that even with thousands of samples you never lose track.
Very happy with the Roland Spd-sx. Great for playing back backing tracks.
Easy to load samples. Loads of features. Nice compact design. Good feel from the pads. Loads of options for connecting more pads and creating new samples.
First of all, its so easy to use. The menues are easy to navigate, and you learn how to set it up in just a couple of hours.
Its got many features, and although it doesnt have that many built in sounds and samples, with its 4gb internal memory, its no problem to load it up with own samples and sounds. The software that comes with it is great and easy to use.
In addition you can use external triggers with the SPD-SX, which is very useful.
I use the SPD-SX alot, both in studio, on rehearsals and live, and can strongly recommend this product!
