The ultimate sampling pad for professional demands: Roland SPD-SX PRO
The Roland SPD-SX PRO is a high-end electronic Percussion pad with 1500 sounds and 32 GB of memory. The development is based on years of practical experience with the two previous models. Equipped with an extremely robust housing and nine velocity-sensitive pads, it is optimized for live use. The 4.3" color display promises an overview and intuitive operating procedures. The LEDs that frame the pads are multicolored and customizable. Over 1500 internal sounds offer maximum variety, plus up to 32 GB of samples (44 hours Stereo audio in 48 kHz / 16 bit), playbacks and backing tracks can be stored on the Roland SPD-SX Pro and then assigned to a pad or external trigger. If needed, snare, hi-hat and bass drum can be connected, giving you a full electronic drum kit. There are connections for up to eight external triggers or pads (4 x stereo), plus four direct outs (mono) and a stereo main out. Via the SPD-SX Pro App for Windows and MAC, samples and tracks can be imported, pads can be assigned and the 200 kits can be edited.
Numerous sounds, trigger inputs and extended audio outputs.
The SPD-SX PRO offers 1,550 varied on-board sounds and 200 kits (43 erasable preset kits and 157 user kits). At the same time, the SPD-SX PRO's advanced processor ensures that you can switch kits at any time during performance without cutting off the sound. Roland's sample pad features two balanced stereo master outputs (L/R). When these are combined with the four assignable mono outputs, six audio paths are available to output each pad individually if needed and mix them in a versatile way. Furthermore, a stereo headphone output is available for an individual monitor mix, and the integrated metronome can also be routed individually. With the pad link function, you can trigger audio signals on two pads synchronously with one hit on a pad. This way you can play an audio backing track and an audio click track at the same time. Up to eight mono or four stereo triggers can be connected via the four trigger inputs. Combining external, internal trigger inputs and the connections for hi-hat controllers and footswitches, a total of up to 19 different playing surfaces are available.
Best orientation: Colored pad LEDs and large display.
In order to be able to strike all of the nine pads safely even on a dark stage, they are surrounded by color-customizable LEDs. Ten colors can be assigned to each vertical and horizontal light. For example, click, playback and drum sounds can be marked with their own color. In addition, the Roland SPD-SX Pro is equipped with a 4.3'' color display with illuminated buttons, tabs as well as a jog dial for lightning-fast sound selection. The screen displays the information in real time, eg. the playback progress. Nine pads sit on the SPD-SX PRO with excellent feel and perfect touch dynamics. Revised sensors sit in the top row's three shoulder pads for increased touch sensitivity and consistent-sounding hits, regardless of the SPD-SX PRO's placement and orientation. In addition, crosstalk protection has been optimized to prevent accidental triggering of adjacent pads.
Practical App for the SPD-SX Pro
The SPD-SX PRO app from the Roland Cloud is used to import audio files and edit sound and playback parameters via USB on the computer. This way, samples can be moved via drag-and-drop, kits can be compiled and all settings can be adjusted, and it is also possible to name sounds and kits according to your own wishes.
Via the USB connection, eight audio channels plus MIDI are simultaneously transferred to the computer and recorded in a DAW.
