The Roland SPD-1P Percussion is a digital percussion pad that allows any musician to add electronic sounds to their performances. Containing 22 iconic sounds including snare and kick drums, hi-hats, cymbals, shakers, tambourines and more, you can even import your own original audio data into one of the 12 internal sound banks. This robust-yet-sensitive pad can be played with sticks, hands, or feet, and the trigger threshold settings can be easily adjusted using intuitive controls.
Via USB, you can import WAV audio files up to five seconds long by simply dragging and dropping your files. These sounds can then be modified like any of the internal sounds using the tuning and effect control knobs. You can adjust sensitivity and trigger threshold settings in seconds using two control dials on the side of the unit. Thanks to its built-in USB-MIDI support, the SPD-1P Percussion can be used as a compact digital pad controller for a computer DAW.
With the included mounting adapter, you can easily clamp the pad to a hi-hat, cymbal, or tom stand or even a mic stand. Alternatively you can play the SPD-1P Percussion by simply placing it on the floor, a tabletop, or any solid surface. Lightweight enough to be dropped into a bag or instrument case, this pad is robust enough for travel thanks to a metal construction.

I bought this to add flexibility and a range of sounds to TD-50 - just to add occasional variety to songs. It is easy to use and set up and does exactly what it is meant to! I separately bought a Boss adaptor (PSA-120S) to go with it so I don't need to use the batteries.
