The Rode NT1 is a condenser microphone for use in studios with differentiated as well as detailed sound playback. It features a cardiod characteristic making it ideal for recording from the front (sound from the back-side of the mic is ignored). The point of this characteristic is to ensure that the source of the sound is recorded - and so that sounds coming from the side and rear are not as present and much quieter. The NT1 is not only suited for recording purposes, but also for podcasts and film production etc. With its extremely low inherent noise, the NT1 is an exceptional choice for recording very quiet sources.
Rode developed the "HF6" especially for the NT1. It is an edge-polarized, gold-coated 1” capsule, tailored to a vintage style. Its sound is clearly reminiscent of legendary classics, with significantly less noise (essentially zero). In cooperation With Rycote, Rode is going in a new direction with the shock mount - behind the basket is a miniature Lyre to which the capsule is mounted, further minimizing the vibrations: the NT1 delivers exceptional dampening characteristics even without a spider.
