The bezel has two sides, the cove and a thumbrest sides. I didn't at first realize that the raised thumbrest type of side would in fact get a little in the way on the G-string side when I first installed this to have the cove to be on the E-string side. I flipped the bezel around and now try to get used to having the thumbrest. It feels a little like a 5 string, but not really. I might eventually end up just filing the raised bit off and flip it around to get a little more natural playing postition for the right hand.
In true Rickenbacker tradition this once again is something that others will love and others will hate. I am somewhere in between. Doesn't wotk for me right out of the box.
Price is DEFINITELY a bit steep for a simple (albeit finely measured) piece of plastic.
DV247 offered the lowest price and including delivery to the UK, this was cheaper than elsewhere.
The product itself is very well machined and fits perfectly in to the treble pickup gap, which makes playing a much more pleasant experience. Easy to fit too.
Very easy to install - took me about 10 min. straight out of the box. Fits and works perfect with my Rickenbacker 4003 bass. A bit on the pricy side for a small piece of plastic, but in my opinion worth it if you want to replace the pickupcover with a nice and sturdy thumb rest.
