Digital precision meets analog sound aesthetics

The Relab Maselec MLA-4 plugin brings the dynamics processing of a legendary analog processor to the screen in completely digital form for the first time. In close cooperation with Leif Mases, a software was created that not only exactly reflects the sound character, but also the way the original hardware device works. or when processing complete mixes, subgroups or during final mastering - this plugin provides targeted control with musical results.

By combining compression and expansion within three frequency bands, the MLA-4 offers creative possibilities that go far beyond the functions of conventional multiband compressors. The automatic spectral balancing ensures that tonal stability is maintained even with far-reaching interventions. At the same time, the per-band harmonic control allows targeted sound refinement -from subtle warmth to selective saturation.

A special highlight is the intelligent sidechain linking. Five modes allow flexible interaction between the bands and open up new possibilities for natural-looking dynamic progressions. With detailed control for attack, release, Threshold and ratio per band, every processing can be precisely matched to the audio material. Per-band solo and targeted channel separation facilitate analysis and optimization down to the last detail.

Dynamic restoration & sound control

Even at louder mix levels, the MLA-4 maintains musical balance and protects against unwanted limiter distortion . This is ideal for achieving competitive volume levels without losing character. In addition, even highly compressed audio material can be reopened: The plug-in enables the targeted restoration of dynamics without pumping artifacts or sonic side effects. The entire signal processing remains phase-coherent throughout, which guarantees a stable stereo base and a clean depth gradation.
