20th Anniversary Flagship Interface
The RME Fireface UFX+ Audio Interface is a 94-in/94-out interface featuring 12 analogue I/Os with four mic/instrument preamps and USB 3.0, Thunderbolt technology and iPad compatibility. The Fireface UFX+ is able to handle up to 94 channels I/O with ease and unprecedented flexibility and compatibility. Including DURec (Direct USB Recording) and famous low latency hardware and driver designs, the Fireface UFX+ raises the bar to new heights.
The UFX+ has an impressive channel count; 12 analogue, 16 ADAT, two AES and 64 MADI resulting in 94 channels input plus output for 188 channels in total. Thunderbolt technology gives the Fireface UFX+ real PCI Express audio performance under Mac and Windows, with lowest latency, lowest system overhead and lowest CPU load. The Fireface UFX+ is fully Thunderbolt technology compatible under Windows, including hot-plugging.
The main features of the RME Fireface UFX+ Audio Interface include:
I have had this interface for a few weeks now. As soon as I plugged it in and heard the sound quality out of my slightly average monitors, I was blown away. The detail I was missing on my old interface is quite apparent. Crystal clear converters! The amount of connectivity on such an interface at first had me on the fence with this interface thinking will I actually use all of them? But the fact that it is so feature packed, including Thunderbolt for when I get a desktop PC in the future made this the real "last interface I will buy for a good while, possibly ever" choice. The latency performance on my i7 PC laptop is just incredible, and the stability of this interface is second to non that I have ever used. I originally started shopping around for a new interface as I wanted to have all my synthesizers wired into the interface with flexible routing. Oh boy, flexible routing is an understatement. I can easily route my audio sources through my modular and back without an issue, coupled with TotalMix its a breeze! With the remote that I bought a few weeks later, my studio workflow is much improved. Its so much fun to work with. Production is not my day job, hence my initial hesitation due to the price, but this is seriously, seriously good. If funds are not an issue, go for it. I doubt you will regret it. The fact that RME write their own drivers and support legacy products for years to come is another win win. Wholeheartedly recommend! This is a proper grown ups interface! The only thing it could have more of is DC coupled outputs for me, in case I wanted to control my modular through it, but this is my only slight gripe!
