The tone arm-free DVS control prevents needle skipping during digital playback. No matter how intensely scratching is performed, the system ensures the needle remains stable in digital vinyl mode. The MAGVEL CLAMP secures the record and directly controls the digital music file, delivering an authentic vinyl feel. When playing analogue records, the familiar handling of the PLX-1000 remains unchanged.
The vinyl feel can be customised to suit individual preferences. The dial on top of the MAGVEL CLAMP allows quick and precise adjustment of the vinyl's "weight." This ensures full control over performance without the need to swap slipmats or slipsheets. This flexibility enhances the playing experience, enabling seamless transitions during DJ sessions.
The turntable's torque can be adjusted to match personal preferences. The utility settings offer three modes: "High" for a fast start when pressing PLAY, "Mid" for a balanced feel, and "Low" for the classic torque favoured by many DJs. This versatility allows precise adaptation to various mixing and scratching techniques.
The braking speed of the turntable can also be tailored to individual needs. A switch on the front of the deck allows for easy adjustment of the stopping time. "Min" ensures an abrupt stop, "Mid" provides the familiar standard brake time used by many DJs, and "Max" enables a smooth, gradual slowdown for an expressive and dramatic track finish.
The PLX-CRSS12 blends classic turntable design with modern features, incorporating four built-in, MIDI-assignable performance pads. Positioned strategically beneath the record, they allow quick access to hot cues and samples, especially useful when using a mixer without pads. A dedicated button extends control to pads 5–8, while native PAD modes and MIDI mapping offer maximum flexibility.
The integrated OLED display enhances workflow efficiency by providing quick access to essential parameters. It shows the tempo range and key when step pitching. When connected via USB to a PC/Mac running DJ software, BPM, key, and deck number information is displayed. The display also provides direct access to utility settings, reducing the need to check a laptop or mixer during a performance.
The PLX-CRSS12 further enhances the precise audio reproduction of the PLX-1000, delivering an even more refined sound experience. A switching power supply minimises vibrations and eliminates transformer noise, ensuring a cleaner audio output. The chassis combines high-rigidity zinc die-cast construction with an 8 mm thick resin base to enhance vibration damping. Gold-plated RCA terminals ensure a stable signal transmission for maximum analogue vinyl sound quality.
The PLX-CRSS12 is compatible with Serato DJ Pro and rekordbox. When connected to a PC/Mac and a mixer that supports the DVS function of the respective DJ software, it enables playback in digital vinyl mode. Additionally, the built-in performance pads offer extended control options, facilitating seamless and creative DJ performances.
