The Peterson StroboStomp HD is a highly accurate Stroboscope Tuner in Pedal format, with +/- 0.1 cent tuning accuracy for Electric Guitar, Bass and other stringed instruments. Thanks to the large high-resolution display, (colour and brightness of which can be adapted to personal preferences and the environment) the Tuner is especially easy to read. In addition, the StroboStomp HD can access the Sweetened Tunings are available, which promise a more harmonious sound by subtly adjusting the intervals. In addition to the silent True Bypass, the Peterson StroboStomp HD also provides a Buffered Bypass that prevents signal loss when bridging long cable runs. Last but not least, there is a 9V output that can be used to supply other effect devices with power.

Peterson stroboscopic tuners have been a high accuracy industry standard for years. However I have always found the stroboscopic display hard to follow with several bands all rotating in different directions and you had to learn to look at the pattern corresponding to the relevant octave. The earlier LCD tuners had quite a low contrast display, presumably a trade off with response speed. Although the new StroboStomp displays two strobe patterns, which do occasionally shift relative to each other, most of the time they stay locked together. The display, while still not as high contrast as it often appears in the advertising and in YouTube demos, does seem to offer a better contrast than older models. All round the display is large, clear and easier to read than previous models. The Strobostomp is quite easy to use as a straightforward tuner, but also offers 130 different modes accessed either through two discrete menu navigation buttons tucked away on either side of the case, or through a USB connection and the Peterson Connect software which runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. Different tuning modes can be selected using the menu buttons and each tuning mode has a different colour backlight, which can be changed by the user if required. The pedal firmware is upgradeable with downloads available from the Peterson site. Although Peterson claim a 0.1 cent discrimination the tuner does not display the tuning error in cents. I repair guitars and I have this feature on another tuner. I find it very useful for recording the state of guitar before I make adjustments so I can show my customers the exact improvements I have made to their instruments tuning.
Previously I used the Boss TU-3 and didn't see why I'd ever need to upgrade tuners. It was only after watching several online reviews and reading Peterson's website that I convinced myself it was worth a look. I'm so pleased that I did. I own 6 string electric and acoustic guitars, 12 string acoustic, bass and baritone guitars. I now find it so much easier to accurately tune, particularly with being able to assign different colours to different tunings and remove the tunings I don't need. Shame the app doesn't work with Mac natively, you need to download Google Chrome but it's not the end of the world. A highly recommended product and one which I wish I'd bought from the start. The usual excellent service and price from Music Store.
