Carlos Santana is not only probably the most important PRS endorser, but also the driving force behind the successful SE lineup in 2001 to offer the striking Paul Reed Smith feeling in an affordable price range. In the 2017 version, the SE Santana has a 24-flush rosewood fretboard, while the previous pickups have been revised in neck and bridge position. Last but not least, the headstock design was changed and adapted to the USA core models in the form of Paul's complete signature.
The most important characteristic of a successful signature, apart from the pure sound aspects, is of course the handling of the model. Accordingly, the SE Santana has a glued mahogany neck in the classic PRS Wide Fat profile. The popular shaping is perfect for articulative bending and provides additional resonance. The rosewood fingerboard with traditional bird inlays has been extended by two frets for the first time to offer the full range of two octaves.
The SE Santana pickups, developed in close cooperation with Carlos, represent an upgrade of its previous pickup equipment and convince with vocal mids and slightly increased output with a healthy low-end. Both pickups are adjusted via a master volume and master tone control and selected via 3-way toggle.
Overview of the PRS SE Santana 2017:
Very impressed with the PRS Santana SE: the finish is faultless, sound likewise. These guitars offer incredible value for money.
