Selected woods with flawless workmanship
For the construction of the Paul Reed Smith P24 Charcoal Burst the Marylander electric guitar builders rely on carefully selected woods. Accordingly, the body and the glued neck are made of mahogany, while the rosewood fingerboard is characterised by an even colouring. The solid curly maple top, whose delicate grain is perfectly accentuated by the Charcoal Burst Finish, also sets optical accents. The powerfully shaped "Pattern Regular" profile of the neck also lies firmly in the hand and offers a comfortable basis for classical and modern playing techniques. The typical bird inlays facilitate orientation between the 24 frets of the fingerboard.
The pickups of the PRS P24 consist of two 85/15 humbuckers and the PRS/LR Baggs Piezo System, whose pickup elements are located in the strings of the bridge.
Diversity of sound with humbuckers and piezo
The sound conversion of the PRS P24 Charcoal Burst is a combination of classic humbucker pickups and a piezo system developed in cooperation between Paul Reed Smith and the Californian acoustic pioneer L.R. Baggs. The PRS 85/15 humbuckers convince with their modern sound, whose clear articulation with extended bass and treble spectrum is equally suitable for crystal clear sparkling clean sounds, creamy overdrive or powerful distortion. With the 5-way blade switch the humbuckers can be called up in different circuit variants. At the same time, the piezo system delivers authentic acoustic guitar sounds that can be mixed with the signal from the electric pickups via the blend pot. In addition, it is possible to output the signals of both pickup systems to separate amplifiers via separate outputs.
Even with frequent use of the tremolo system, the PRS Phase III locking mechanisms keep the tuning safe and reliable.
First-class hardware
High-class hardware completes the equipment of the PRS P24 Charcoal Burst. The classic PRS tremolo is used as a bridge, whose string rider serves as a carrier for the LR Baggs piezo elements. With its smooth response, the system allows both softly shimmering vibratos and aggressive Whammy Bar inserts, and its rounded edges and flat surfaces provide a comfortable support for the hand in Palm Mutes or similar playing techniques. In addition, the PRS Phase III locking mechanisms promise a precise and long-lasting tuning even with frequent use of the tremolo system;
