Through their selection of switches, sixteen different sound options on the PRS Modern Eagle V Cobalt Smokeburst can be individually adjusted with tone and volume controls. Both TCI humbuckers offer warm soapbar sounds which are easily converted into clear single-coil sounds by two mini-split toggles. An NS-01 single-coil pickup in middle position provides further flexibility, but can also be overridden by the Push/Pull Tone control. The 5-way circuitry thus has no limits for classic and modern electric guitar sounds.
The glued neck offers a classically comfortable PRS feel.
Structure and features
As with all PRS electric guitars, the Modern Eagle V Cobalt Smokeburst is built with both quality and functionality in mind, so the tonewoods and Hardware used not only contribute to the tonal structure of the electric guitar, but offer a generally sturdy and reliable setup. Mahogany body and neck are glued together for comfortable playing characteristics, making the 22-fret fretboard with Bird inlays easy to reach even in the higher registers. The PRS Tromolo Gen III continues to impress with smooth handling thanks to a smooth finish and stable tuning thanks to the PRS Phase III locking tuners.
