The Ortega RMFE100AVO impresses not only with its traditional look but also with its extremely accommodating playability and powerful sound. Equipped with an in-house Ortega pickup system, the F-style mandolin is also perfectly suited for amplified use. Furthermore, the top is equipped with the usual F-holes, while an elaborate scroll gives the instrument its typical shape. The overall work is rounded off by high-quality hardware and a clean finish.
To generate a powerful and clear sound with a fast response, the arched body is made of solid curly maple. A solid spruce top provides a perfect complement, coloring the tone with expressive midrange and treble frequencies. Attached to the short maple neck is a classy ebony fingerboard, which features 24 frets. These can be easily reached in all positions thanks to a generous cutaway.
Since the appearance of the mandolin is already very unusual in itself, the manufacturer refrains from extensive decorations and inlays. Thus the Ortega RMFE100AVO is only marked with a simple inlay at the 12th fret and edged with a plain, cream-colored multi-ply binding. The top is equipped with a beautiful tortoise pickguard, which is fixed to the lower rib with a gold screw. Gold Grover tuners with white buttons give the F-Style mandolin a very classy touch, which is completed by the gauzy Antique Violin Oiled finish in a very tasteful way.
The pickup's side preamp includes a handy tuner that can be activated by a push-button. At the same time, the volume and tone pots allow you to adjust the sound individually. The S1T active pickup and the tuner are powered by 2 button cell batteries.
