The Novation launchpad mini mk2 is an USB controller with a 8x8 mini-padsurface and 16 backlit buttons. All 64 pads and 16 buttons are tricolor backlit and touchsensitive. The Launchpad mini of the second generation is in terms of functionality like the bigger version, the Novation Launchpad mkII, but stands out with a quarter smaller casing which is very great for portable applications. Furthermore when combined with the Ableton Live sequencer software it shows a very enhanced and improved workflow. So the Launchpad allows you to lauch clips in Ableton Live and to mix, edit and record your music - you can even play drum loops with the Grid. Moreover it provides a very good beginning in the world of making music and control musicproductionsoftware with an external hardware controller.

Very comfortable to operate clips and tracks in Ableton Live. Also used to operate clips recording and as drum pad for overdubbing percussions during live sets. Can be also used as silent metronome (search for manual on Youtube) and for simple mix control in Mixer mode.
This controller is well know, and works as expected. However, I found the buttons not as responsibe as I had hoped, which limits its use for percussion or fast-changing samples.
