Babel from New Systems Instruments is a versatile workhorse for analogue logic and intermodulation. With its three inputs, Babel can do a lot: for control voltages and audio signals, the module simultaneously generates the values minimum (ALL), maximum (ANY) and an average value (XSOME). This is a huge gain when you need variants of several voltages to modulate several targets simultaneously: In audio, the results behave more like a waveshaper. But depending on the knob position and the input material it also sounds like a ring modulator with plenty of interpolation. Considering that Babel has three (or more) inputs, you can expect some very unusual results. If clock, trigger and Gate signals are applied to the inputs, the module generates the analogue logic patterns AND, or and XOR, which is also known as Boolean logic. With the separately available Babel Expander the module can be extended to seven inputs.
