Quasar from Neuzeit Instruments is a special combination of audio mixer and effects unit for repositioning the audio signal in the stereo field. The module creates a 3D sound image through digital binaural audio processing. Signals applied to the two audio inputs are ultimately addressed to two positions in space. With the help of digital high and low pass filters, it is even possible to determine which frequency component is to be located at which position. A realistic room reverb can be added as a further aid to distance perception. Quasar can be used to determine whether the sound is located in front of, behind, above or to the side of the listener. Thanks to assignable control voltage inputs, it is even possible to realize exciting results such as rotating the signals within the room or moving closer and further away, which goes far beyond classic L/R panning. The two large knobs with illuminated LED wreaths can be assigned to any parameter. Since Quasar's algorithm is based on the shape of the head, the use of good headphones is recommended for best results. Of course, nothing stands in the way of using it in the stereo field of two speakers as well.
