This proven Neutrik chassis connector is exceptionally robust compared to RJ45 connectors. The duplex ground contact ensures best contact integrity between chassis connector and cable connector. In addition, its standard D-metal housing provides excellent all-round shielding against high-frequency and electromagnetic interference. It is suitable for data transmission - CAT 5e performance with up to 16 A and 50 V power supply and exceeds PoE+ performance.

But why 8 + 2 poles? The 8 narrower poles are suitable for twisted pair data with a bandwidth of 1 Gb, while the two other poles can optionally be used for power supply or additional control data. If these are not needed, they are still useful as they can protect the other poles from unwanted bending due to their higher stability.
