The Music Man StingRay Special RW Ivory White is a very comfortable and versatile instrument with the typical StingRay characteristics, thanks to the careful revision of body design and electronics. Music Man sources an Ash body and a bolt-on Roasted Maple neck that carries a Rosewood fingerboard with 22x stainless steel frets. A powerful Music Man standard neodymium humbucker pickup and an active 3-band tone control with 18V operating voltage also provide versatile and dynamic bass sounds. The Music Man StingRay Special offers weight-saving Music Man Custom Lightweight tuners and a Music Man Vintage Top Load bridge.

Music Man uses a traditional choice of wood for the construction of the StingRay Special: an ash body, which ensures a defined attack, regardless of playing style, and deep harmonic content through all five strings, while the neck is made of stable roasted maple and carries an ebony fingerboard. Held to the body via 5 bolts, maximum resonance is achieved through both component pieces, whilst the ability to make adjustments throughout the life of the instrument is retained.

The reworked body contours, which allow the bass to rest comfortably against the body, and the Sculpted Neck Joint, which in combination with the comfortable "C" neck profile makes all 22 stainless steel frets easily accessible, also ensure a high level of playing comfort.

Equipped with one Music Man Standard Neodymium Humbucker pickup, the Music Man StingRay Special proves to be a true contender to the throne. When these high-quality, dynamic, pickups are combined with the 18V 3-band tone control, and the 5-way selector, any range of tones and vibes can be brought forth.

Music Man have outfitted the StingRay Special with high-quality hardware that has been optimally tuned to the 4-string instrument; the solid steel Music Man Vintage Top Load bridge is used on the body, alongside four Music Man Custom Lightweight tuners in the classic "3+1" layout on the headstock.
